Why the name changed
The firm was renamed American Disability Law in 2019 to reflect the expansion of our legal team. The Law Offices of Stephanie Lake, P.C. remains the firm’s legal name; American Disability Law is the name we practice under.
That is the whole story. There was no merger, no sale, and no change of ownership. The name that made sense for a solo practice in 1992 no longer described an office where a team of people works on every claim — attorneys, case managers and support staff, in English and Spanish.
What has not changed
Stephanie Lake is still the principal attorney. She founded the firm in 1992, is Board Certified in Social Security Disability Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, and has practiced Social Security law — and only Social Security law — for her entire career in Arizona.
The focus has not changed either. The firm handles Social Security disability claims and nothing else: SSDI, SSI, appeals and hearings. And the plan is to keep it that way, with the same attention to quality and to winning our clients’ cases that the firm was built on under its old name.

Where we serve
The office is in Phoenix, Arizona, but the practice has never stopped at the city limits. We represent Social Security disability claimants across the Valley — Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, Glendale, Gilbert, Tempe, Peoria, Surprise and Goodyear — and across the state, including Tucson, Flagstaff, Prescott, Yuma and Casa Grande. Most Social Security matters can be handled by phone and mail, so distance from our office has never been an obstacle, and the firm has represented claimants in Arizona, California and across the country since 1992.
